This fluorite crystal is from the Huanggang Fe-Sn Deposit, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China. This specimen displays nicely colored and lustrous green and slightly purple Fluorite coating a bed of interestingly formed Quartz crystals. These Fluorite specimens add a very nice aesthetic balance to any colorful collection. The green and slightly purple and white colors complement each other quite well.
The Fluorite formed over a milky-white Quartz crystals with secondary growths below the termination. Under short-wave ultraviolet light, the fluorite exhibits a purple fluorescence.
This is a great specimen for serious collectors and is considered a "rare" find.
Locality Information:
The "Huanggang Mine" is a complex of seven somewhat interconnected mines located near Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China. Incredible mineral specimens started coming out of this mining complex around 2009. However, the location provided for the specimens was a long way away from the actual site. This is a practice commonly performed by dealers and miners following a new discovery to try and preserve the mineral site's true location, and/or for political purposes.
