This is a really great specimen of vibrant Dioptase on matrix. Being “on matrix” simply means that it is still on the host rock. This type of specimen can be very desirable amongst collectors. Dioptase in general, is desirable because of its unique, beautiful, and deep blue-green color. There is also some malachite on this piece as well. Malachite is known to occur from this locality. This specimen in particular is from the “Sanda Hills occurrences” at the N’tola Mine in Mindouli, Mindouli District, Pool Department, Republic of the Congo. Gotta love a good matrix specimen!
