These super gemmy stacked Calcites are somewhat new on the market and is seldom seen despite first appearances of material from the locality in 2013. These Calcite clusters have a little bit of Siderite on them and are from the Kaiwu Mine, Hezhang County, Bijie, Guizhou, China. Upon doing lots of research, these specimens are very unique compared to what you usually see from that mine. These have grown in a much more orderly fashion and eye-pleasing. These specimens were acquired from a lady whose father was a well-known geologist in many provinces in China and had connections with the mines in many areas. She was seriously the sweetest lady ever! We are excited to add these to our inventory and provide you all with a chance to acquire one of these amazingly unique specimens for your collection. The stacking of the Calcite crystals is so satisfying to look at and admire and their luster just adds such a great sparkle to any collection.
Locality Info:
Apparently a base metal mine. A number of fine specimens showed up from this locality for the first time at the 2013 Tucson Gem and Mineral show. The locality has apparently been confirmed as the Kaiwu Mine by Berthold Ottens who is an expert on Chinese localities.
